यह एक चतुर किसान की कहानी है । जो पहाड़ी पर रहता है । जहां पर किसानी टेरेस फ़ार्मिंग यानी सीधीदार खेती करते हैं । एक बार एक किसान ने पहाड़ी के पास एक खेत ख़रीदा । फिर उसने बैलों की एक जोड़ी ख़रीदी । और ख़ुशी से अपने खेत की जुताई शुरू कर दी । मुश्किल से उसने आधे खेत की जुताई की थी कि एक लम्बा आदमी आया, और ग़ुस्से में चिल्लाया - मेरा घर इस पहाड़ी की तलहटी में है । आप मेरी छत पर क्या कर रहे हैं ।
कृपया क्रोधित न हों शांत हो जाएँ - किसान ने जवाब दिया । मैं बीज बोने के लिए जुताई कर रहा हूँ । जब मैं फसल उगाऊँगा हर अपनी फसल को आपके साथ साझा करूँगा ।
एक साल जो ज़मीन के नीचे उगता है ले लेना और अगले साल जो ज़मीन के नीचे उगता है ले लेना । लम्बा आदमी खुश था । उसे किसान की मूर्ख बनाने की योजना के बारे में कुछ पता नही था ।
पहले साल किसान ने गेंहू बोया । ज़मीन के ऊपर उगने के कारण उसने सारा गेंहू ले लिया । और जड़ें ज़मीन के नीचे होने के कारण लम्बे आदमी को दे दी ।
लम्बा आदमी ग़ुस्सा हो गया । उसने किसान से कहा कि अगली बार वह ज़मीन के ऊपर उगने वाला हिस्सा लेगा । किसान सहमत हो गया ।
अगले साल किसान ने मूँगफली उगाई । जब फसल तैयार हो गयी तो,ज़मीन के नीचे उगने के कारण किसान ने सारी मूँगफली ले ली । बेचारे लम्बे आदमी को ज़मीन के ऊपर के पत्ते मिले ।
इस तरह लम्बे आदमी को किसान द्वारा फिर से मूर्ख बनाया गया ।
